A National Award for McKendree Social Media
Lebanon, Ill. — Tweet this: McKendree University’s social media recently received
the gold award in the country’s largest education advertising competition.
The 29th annual Educational Advertising Awards were sponsored by the Atlanta-based Higher
Education Marketing Report. Over 2,000 entries were submitted to the competition from
more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and
several countries. The judging panel included higher education marketers, advertising
creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the Higher Educational
Marketing Report editorial board.
“It’s a fascinating time for social media from an organizational perspective because
it is so powerful, fluid and engaging,” said Michael Embrich, director of web communications
and digital assets at McKendree. “There is abundant marketing value in our institution’s
digital assets. It’s wonderful to be nationally recognized for the continuous dedication
of our social media administrators.”
Social media at McKendree University encompasses approximately 150 accounts utilizing
over 10 platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and study
abroad blogs. In addition to university-maintained accounts, numerous special interest
groups use social media to connect with current and prospective students, alumni,
parents and supporters.
