Percussionists, Circus Theatre, and the idea lab are Coming to the Hett
(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 14, 2019) - Three entertaining weeknight events are coming soon
to McKendree University’s Hettenhausen Center for the Arts. For tickets or more information

Third Coast Percussion, an energetic, virtuosic Grammy-winning quartet from Chicago, will perform on Thursday,
Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. The eclectic group has worked with engineers at Notre Dame, architects
at the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, dancers at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Zimbabwe’s
Shona mbira musicians, indie rockers and major concert musicians. A direct connection with the
audience is at the core of their work.
Reserved seats are $20 adult, $18 senior, $10 student/child and free for McKendree
University students. The Hett’s Arts Education series will host a K-12 school matinee
on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5 per child, with one free chaperone/adult

A second performance of Cirque Éloize: Saloon was added on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. after the March 6 show sold out quickly.
Theatre and circus collide as strength, agility, original choreography and spectacular
acrobatic prowess combine in an action-packed adventure set to the music of Patsy
Cline, Johnny Cash and folk-inspired compositions. The Korean plank, aerial straps,
Cyr wheel, juggling, hand-to-hand, and a variety of movements tell an incredible love
story of the Wild West, where almost anything goes. Reserved seating is $32 adult,
$30 senior, $10 student/child and free for McKendree students.
A YouTube historian, a famous soprano, a relationship counselor, an international
politics expert and a creative coach-consultant will speak at the idea lab on Tuesday, March 19, at 7:30 p.m. Modeled after the popular TED Talks, the event
features five 12- to 16-minute presentations designed to educate, inform, inspire
and entertain.
Speakers and their topics are world renowned operatic soprano Christine Brewer (“Birgit
or Bust!”); YouTube’s “The History Guy” Lance Geiger (“St. Louis on the Home Front:
War Economics and the St. Louis Glider Accident of 1943”); political science professor
and author Dr. Brian Frederking (“Hierarchies and Networks: Explaining our Current
Political Divide”); clinical social worker Amy Miller (“Easy: A New Paradigm for Relationships”)
and coach-consultant Wendy Hornung (“Astrology and History - Your Resource for Crazy
Times”).
General admission seating is $5 and free for McKendree students, faculty and staff
members.
