McKendree University Students to Perform Cinderella Waltz Nov. 3-5
(LEBANON, Ill.) – McKendree University’s students will be performing Cinderella Waltz, a play by American playwright Don Nigro. The curtain will rise for three performances from Nov. 3-5 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts on campus. The Friday and Saturday performances are slated for 7:30 p.m. while Sunday’s matinee will begin at 2:30 p.m.
Admission is free for McKendree students, faculty and staff. General admission tickets are priced at $5, and reservations are recommended. Please contact the Hett box office at (618) 537-6863 to reserve seats or purchase them online.
Cast members include: Jayden Touchette of Millstadt, Ill., as Rosey Snow; Sean Harper of Metamora, Ill., as Mr. Snow; Audreyana Phillips of Herrin, Ill., as Mrs. Snow; Madison Rohn of O’Fallon, Ill., as Goneril Snow; Denaysha Jackson of Springfield, Ill., as Regan Snow; Myles McGee of Belleville, Ill., as Prince Alf; Caleb Marriott of Mascoutah, Ill., as Troll; Jolie Wagner of Centralia, Ill., as Mother Magee; and Vinny Meyer of Granite City, Ill., as Zed, the village idiot. With Mia Wylie of Maryville, Ill., serving as the stage manager, the rest of the crew members include: Alex Brandenburger of Belleville, Ill. (lights), Gabi Cuba of Collinsville, Ill. (deck manager) and Josephine Klein of Raymond, Ill. (crew).
Rosey Snow is trapped in a fairytale world that is by turns funny and a little frightening, with her stepsisters Goneril and Regan, her demented stepmother, her lecherous father, a bewildered prince, a fairy godmother who sings salty old sailor songs, a troll, and a possibly homicidal village idiot. This play investigates the archetypal origins of the world’s most popular fairytale, contrasting the familiar and charming Perrault version with the darker, more ancient and disturbing tale recorded by the Brothers Grimm. Grotesque farce and romantic fantasy blend in a fairytale for adults.
