FIRST Robotics Regional Competition Results
Local Teams Qualify for State
Lebanon, Ill. — Twelve robotics teams from Illinois, Indiana and Missouri competed
in the Illinois FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) Regional Qualifier held at McKendree University
on Nov. 17. The Mecha-Hamsters from Martinsville, Ind., won the tournament’s top prize,
the Inspire Award. The following six teams will advance to the FTC Illinois state
championships on Dec. 8 at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago: Brains
on Bots from Champaign-Urbana; Café Bot from Webster Groves, Mo.; Newton’s Lawyers
from O’Fallon; Ohm’s Olympians from Marion; Stand/Try2 from Decatur; and the Mecha-Hamsters.
Fourteen teams from Illinois and Missouri competed in the McKendree Regional Qualifier
for the Illinois FIRST LEGO® League Tournament on Nov. 18. Da Ex Bots from O’Fallon,
Ill., took home the Champions Award. The following three Illinois teams will advance
to the FLL state championships Jan. 18-19 at the Forest View Fieldhouse in Arlington
Heights: Albers Elementary from Germantown; VX3 from Lebanon; and Da Ex Bots.
