‘Blithe Spirit’ a Supernatural Comedy at the Hett, March 27-30
Theatre Students Perform Noel Coward Play
Lebanon, Ill. — The McKendree University Theatre Department’s production of “Blithe
Spirit” by Noel Coward opens on Thursday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. and continues on March
28 and 29 at 7:30, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday, March 30. Admission is free
for general admission seating at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts on campus.
The comic play features Charles Condomine, a bright and articulate novelist who finds
himself in an awkward predicament after conducting a séance with his wife Ruth, his
friends Mr. and Mrs. Bradman, and the eccentric Madame Arcati. Through the séance,
Charles becomes reunited with the ghost of his first wife, Elvira, who will do anything
necessary to destroy his current marriage.
The cast features Victoria Day of Martinsville, Ill., as Edith; Tyler Jewell of Granite
City, as Charles Condomine; Joshua Fleming of Cave in Rock and Shayna Dixon of Alton,
as Dr. and Mrs. Bradman; Carliann Huelsmann of Highland, as Madame Arcati; Rebecca
Blake of Branson, Mo., as Elvira Condomine; and Lauren Magnussen of Collinsville,
as Daphne.
The crew includes Julia Surdyke of Festus, Mo., stage manager; Dakota Reed of West
Frankfort, lighting design; Katelyn Kamphorst of Belleville, costume design; Evan
Bosaw, of Troy, sound design; Nathan Hunt of Harrisburg, deck manager; Liz Bruchhauser
of Highland and Dalton Robinson of Marion, light board operator; Taquisha Dirsdell
of Round Lake, running crew; and Spencer Marcum of Centralia, publicity.
