McKendree University Delegates Pick Up Awards Representing Palestine at Model UN Conference
(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 3, 2024) – McKendree University participated in the American Model United Nations conference in Chicago from Nov. 23-28. More than 80 universities representing 110 countries attended the conference, and McKendree won one of nine overall delegation awards.
McKendree students senior Zane Phillips of Chambersburg, Ill.; sophomore Meera Mohammad of O’Fallon, Ill.; senior Aaron Brown of Albion, Ill.; junior Grace Vincent of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; junior Jordan Wathen of Scott Air Force Base; and junior Tyson Thompson of Okawville, Ill., won an overall delegation award through their representation of Palestine.
The program also picked up two other awards. Thompson and Wathen won a General Assembly outstanding delegation award, and Zane Phillips won a Party to the Dispute award for representing Palestine at the Security Council as it deliberated the Israel-Gaza war.
McKendree has been attending this national conference for 20 years, and the program has won an overall delegation award seven times.
