McKendree Show Choir Debuts 'Marilyn' April 25-26
Showstopping Entertainment!
(LEBANON, Ill., April 9, 2015) — The McKendree University Show Choir will present
its long-awaited debut performance of “Marilyn,” a fictitious show based on the iconic
Marilyn Monroe, on April 25-26 at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts on campus.
Featuring songs from the Benny Goodman Band to Celine Dion, “‘Marilyn’ is sure to
make you laugh, smile and watch as a deeper story unfolds,” said Adam Pulver, Show
Choir director.
The April 25 premiere, a black tie affair, sold out quickly so a second show (casual
attire) was added for Sunday, April 26 at 7 p.m. A limited number of free, general
admission seats remain. For ticket information, call The Hett box office at 618-537-6863,
Monday through Friday between noon and 4 p.m.
With over 50 members, McKendree’s Show Choir combines vocals, choreography, staging,
costuming and production for a versatile, entertaining performance of songs from different
genres, from gospel to Broadway. The program offers students the training and resources
to enhance their performing arts abilities by producing elaborate shows and serving
the community through music.
Pulver joined the McKendree staff in fall 2013 and quickly put the university on the
show choir map. He has judged the Show Choir Nationals and competitions throughout
the Midwest, and hosted a regional competition on campus in April. In addition to
leading McKendree’s Show Choir, he works with high schools and community colleges
to recruit new members and meets with prospective students and their parents throughout
the admission process. The university has offered over $1 million in show choir scholarships, demonstrating its commitment to the new program. A student
may major in any field and receive the Show Choir Scholarship.
