U.S. News Ranks McKendree in Top Tier of Midwest Regional Universities
Among Midwest’s Best for Least Student Debt Load, Online Programs
(LEBANON, Ill., September 9, 2015) - U.S. News & World Report’s 2016 “Best Colleges”
edition continues to rank McKendree University in the top tier of Midwest regional
universities.
U.S. News rated 618 participating institutions in the Regional Universities category
nationwide. McKendree remains a Tier 1 institution among the Best Regional Universities
in the Midwest, at No. 68. U.S. News defines institutions in this category as offering
a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s programs. Schools are compared to their peer group in the North, South, West or Midwest because
they generally draw students from within their region.
McKendree also made the 2016 lists for best online programs and least student debt load at graduation among regional universities in Midwest.

we are especially proud to be listed as one of the top five best institutions in the
region for lowest student debt load at graduation,” said Dr. James Dennis, McKendree
University president. “We offer a high quality education that is also affordable.”
The 2016 U.S. NewsBest Colleges guidebook examines how accredited four-year institutions
nationwide compare among widely accepted indicators of excellence. Among many factors
weighed in determining the rankings, the key measures of quality are: peer assessment,
graduation and retention rates, class size, faculty resources, student selectivity,
financial resources, graduation rate performance and alumni giving.
