Teaching Interests
I teach a variety of chemistry courses. My primary interests are in Organic Chemistry
and Biochemistry, but I teach General Chemistry and other courses as needed. I hope
to start a course in Medicinal Chemistry in the near future.
Publications
Published in Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and have a few other papers close to publishing.
Teaching Philosophy
I want my students to come away from my class concerned citizens. I want them to
understand that chemistry is not all about measuring and pouring. There are things
we do in chemistry that have real-world, day-to-day impact on their lives. My class
is supposed to help them see these connections, prepare them as critical thinkers
to find these connections themselves, and then go out from here ready to take action
in bettering the world around them. Oh yeah, that chemistry can be lots of fun too!
