McKendree Alum in ‘Welcome to Shirley’ Screened at the Hett Feb. 24

Lebanon, Ill. — “Welcome to Shirley,” an independent and locally produced film, will be shown on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts. Admission is free and open to the public.

Among the cast members is 2011 McKendree University graduate Kyle Hintz, who acted in several plays on the Hett stage as a theatre major.

The film follows two brothers separated by distance, time and attitude as they struggle to cope with their father's recent death and prepare for his funeral the day before he is laid to rest. As the story unfolds, viewers encounter all the members of the Banerhamm family, and discover that by comparison, perhaps their own families are not quite as dysfunctional as they may think

“Welcome to Shirley” was produced by Psycho Films, a St. Louis-based independent production company started by a group of friends when they were sixth graders.
