This Summer, Take a Walk Inside the Gym

Lebanon, Ill. — When summer begins to sizzle, don’t let your fitness walking routine suffer! Take it inside to the McKendree University Intramural Gymnasium on weekday mornings, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

The Intramural Gym, located on the far north end of the Melvin Price Convocation Center on Alton Street, is open to those in the community who would like to walk the perimeter. It’s cool, dry, flat, clean, safe, well-lit, free, and if you don’t mind the same scenery, 13 laps equals about a mile.

Just bring your most comfortable athletic shoes (no street shoes, please and for everyone’s safety, no strollers) to walk, jog or run.

“Afterwards you can sit for a while, have a cup of coffee and make new friends, so why not make a ‘mid-year resolution,’ and join us,” said Kim Smallheer, director of student recreation programs. For more information, call the office at (618) 537-6420.
