McKendree Defers Tuition for Scott AFB Students Affected by Shutdown
(Lebanon, Ill., October 7, 2013) — McKendree University is deferring tuition this
month for military students at its Center for Scott Air Force Base who are affected
by the federal government shutdown. University officials understand that many military
students are unable to file for tuition assistance to pay for their October classes.
Students enrolled on base are being allowed to continue in their classes, which are
offered in a one-month format, while waiting on government funding. If students choose
instead to withdraw from a course at any time in October, they may do so without academic
or financial penalty.
Should the government shutdown continue through the end of the month, McKendree will
absorb the cost of tuition for military students taking classes in October at Scott
Air Force Base. The offer is extended only to current students who receive military
tuition assistance.
For more information, contact the McKendree University Center at Scott Air Force Base
at (618) 744-9321 or (618) 744-0426 or visit Room 81 of the Education Center on base.
