Indoor Walking, Fitness Classes at McKendree are Open to All
Boot Camp, Zumba, Kickboxing and Fitness Walking
Lebanon, Ill. — Start the New Year off on the right foot by joining your friends and
getting fit at McKendree University, in either high gear or low gear. For an aggressive
workout, try “Boot Camp” every Tuesday night from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., starting
Jan. 14. Add rhythm to your workout at Zumba classes every Wednesday night from 7
to 8 p.m., beginning on Jan. 15. Early risers can jump start their Friday mornings
with “Cardio Kickboxing” from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., beginning on Jan. 17.
All classes are open to the public and held at the university’s Intramural Gym in
the Melvin Price Convocation Center on Alton St. The cost is free for McKendree students
and $3 per class for non-students.
Prefer a slower pace? Increase your heart rate a bit and still fulfill your 2014 fitness
resolution by joining the Morning Walkers group on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings
from 6:30 until approximately 9 a.m., also in the Intramural Gym.
“Walk your way to wellness in a gym that is dry, clean, warm, safe, flat, well-lit
and free,” said Kim Smallheer, director of recreation programs. “If you don’t mind
the same scenery, 13 times around the perimeter gives you a mile. After your walk,
relax for a while, have a cup of coffee and make new friends as we kick off 2014 together.”
