McKendree Hosts Student Leadership and Service Academy on Feb. 7
(LEBANON, Ill., January 28, 2015) — McKendree University’s Office of Leadership and
Student Development invites college students to a Leadership and Service Academy on
Feb. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event offers students a chance to learn and
gain experience from experts in the fields of leadership and service, and to connect
with peers from other local colleges and universities.
Sessions will focus on individual, group and community values. Guest speakers represent
Saint Louis University, Washington University, Webster University and Stephen F. Austin
University, among others.
The Academy, co-sponsored by McKendree and Fontbonne University, evolved out of a
Summit on Leadership Development conference held last year. “We felt that providing
students an intentional, meaningful experience focused on social change leadership
was essential,” said Sarah Klucker, director of leadership and student development
at McKendree. “Students will have the opportunity to learn in an engaging and diverse
environment that is close to their home campus and affordable.”
The cost to attend is $30 per student and includes continental breakfast, keynote
presentation, two one-hour training sessions, lunch, a networking event and padfolio.
