A Celebration of Academic Excellence on April 22
(LEBANON, Ill., April 19, 2021) — McKendree University students will present their
outstanding scholarly and creative work during the eighth annual Academic Excellence
Celebration (AEC) on Thursday, April 22. The 2021 event includes 15-minute Zoom sessions
by honors program students and other pre-recorded presentations which may be viewed
online.
“The Academic Excellence Celebration is one of our signature academic events. It truly
is a culminating experience and an opportunity for students to showcase their academic
accomplishments,” said Dr. Tami Eggleston, provost.
“The Academic Excellence Celebration is the perfect opportunity for students to both
use and synthesize knowledge they’ve gained in their individual majors,” said Dr.
Alan Alewine, associate provost and AEC committee chair. “This is the first time many
of the student presenters have shared their work publicly, and that makes for an exciting
day!”
The event will feature the work of more than 100 McKendree students representing most
academic disciplines. It will include research studies, art exhibitions, a debate,
readings of original writing, and performances by choirs, bands and wind ensembles.
From computer science to exercise science, from accounting to cybersecurity to biopsychology,
the students’ presentation topics span a broad range of interests.
