English Professor Opens Chapel Speaker Series on Oct. 24

(LEBANON, Ill., September 11, 2018) - “I’m a Liberal Arts Major: What’s Your Super Power?” is the title of a talk by Dr. Nichole DeWall, on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 8 p.m. at the 1828 café on campus. The award-winning associate professor of English, who is an authority on the works of William Shakespeare, will speak at Agape Latte, the first event in McKendree University’s Chapel Series for the 2018-2019 academic year. The public is welcome to attend.

Future speakers at Bothwell Chapel on campus will include:

Sunday, Oct. 28, 10 a.m.: Rev. Jim Barnett, superintendent of the United Methodist Church in the Illinois Great Rivers Council Vermillion River District and a McKendree alumnus, will be the keynote speaker at the chapel service during homecoming weekend.

Wednesday, Dec. 5, noon: Colleen Smyth, program coordinator for the Lyn Huxford Center for Community Service on campus, will speak at the holiday season’s annual Lessons and Carols Service.

Wednesday, April 3, 5 p.m.: A Jewish Seder Meal, a ritual feast that marks the beginning of Passover, will be served in the chapel’s Circuit Riders room. The Seder involves a retelling of the story of the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt.

Wednesday, April 24, noon: A retiring professor will share insights, wisdom and significant moments from his or her career. A reception follows the service.
