Global Awareness Week on Campus
(LEBANON, Ill., March 25, 2019) — Each year, Global Awareness Week at McKendree University
focuses attention on cultural diversity, social justice and international issues.
Organized by the Center for Faith and Spirituality and the Lyn Huxford Center for
Community Service, events include speakers, discussions and activities, many of which
are open to the public. The schedule is as follows:
Sunday, March 31: Mass and social justice prayer, Bothwell Chapel.
Monday, April 1: “Humans of McKendree” story project, Piper Academic Center (PAC) lobby, 11 a.m. to
3 p.m.; study abroad presentation, PAC Room 222, noon.
Tuesday, April 2: “Why Wrap?” by Danielle Harrison, PAC foyer, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; “In Plain Sight”
film, PAC 222, 7 p.m.
Wednesday, April 3: International dishes served in Ames Dining Hall, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Brown Bag presentation
on Cuba by Dr. Aurélie Capron, PAC 222, noon; Social Justice and Equity Committee
discussion on human trafficking and The Covering House, Holman Library, 3:30 p.m.;
Jewish Seder meal for the campus community, Circuit Riders Room in Bothwell Chapel,
6 p.m. (fee; seating is limited; reservations required).
Thursday, April 4: Plow Shares, PAC lobby, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; food trucks sponsored by the Chaplain’s
Office in the circle drive, 6 to 10 p.m.
Friday, April 5: International affairs presentation “Trump and the U.S. Role in the Global Order”
by Dr. Brian Frederking, PAC 222, noon.
Saturday, April 6: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Global Service Day, Food Pantry.
