Leadership Scholarship Day is Dec. 3
McKendree University will welcome 200 high school students and their families to campus
for Leadership Scholarship Day on Dec. 3. Hailing from 117 high schools, these students
are academic achievers who are typically involved in an impressive number of co-curricular
activities.
The Leadership Scholarship, which has a maximum value of $5,000 annually, is available
to students who have been awarded a McKendree University Presidential or Honors Scholarship
and who attend the Leadership Scholarship event. Presidential Scholarships, valued
at $10,000 annually, are awarded to those who at the time of admission have both a
minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA) and a composite ACT score of 22 or higher. Honors
Scholarships, valued at $13,000 annually, are awarded to students with a minimum 3.6
GPA and an ACT score of 27 or higher.
“When awarding scholarships, we take every aspect of a student’s profile into consideration,”
said Chris Hall, vice president for admission and financial aid. “We’re looking for
outstanding students who will contribute to the life of our campus and benefit from
the high academic quality that McKendree provides.”
During the event, students will take part in two interviews with panels of faculty,
alumni, staff members and current students, and write an essay. They will have opportunities
to meet with support service staff, ask questions, tour the campus and explore what
college life is like at McKendree.
The next Leadership Scholarship Day is scheduled for March 4, 2017.
