McKendree University announces several new faculty and staff members who have joined the campus community.
New Faces
New faculty members are:
Dr. Christopher J. Dulaney, assistant professor of computing, has more than a decade of experience working in
the aerospace defense industry as a computer programmer and systems analyst for the
Boeing Company. He has served as project manager and technical lead for major systems
within the automated identification technology field, primarily radio frequency identification.
Dulaney has been an organizer and presenter at Boeing technical conferences for many
years, and most recently presented his work at a national industry conference for
radio frequency identification.

Kari L. Frizzo, instructor of nursing, has previously served as a staff nurse at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Ill., and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, where she was responsible for patient care in hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant. Most recently, she has helped guide nursing students as an assistant professor of nursing at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Ill. Frizzo is a registered nurse in both Illinois and Missouri, and she is APHON chemotherapy and biotherapy certified.

Julie A. Goodin, instructor of accounting, is a certified public accountant with experience as a senior accountant for LarsonAllen, LLP, and a senior financial analyst at Marine Acquisition Corporation. Her work has included supervising such client services as accounts payable, tax reporting, and payroll, as well as managing corporate treasury duties, such as foreign exchange contracts and cash forecasts. Goodin has also served as an instructor of advanced financial accounting at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Kevin R. Kao, assistant professor of art, has most recently served as a visiting assistant professor in art at Coker College in Hartsville, SC. He has also worked with art students as a graduate teaching associate at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Kao’s original artwork has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Knoxville, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, New York, Chicago, and many others. He was also the co-founder and director of Take-Out Gallery in San Diego, Calif., and served as curator for exhibits at San Diego Mesa College and New Americas Museum.

Dr. Gerald P. McDonnell, assistant professor of psychology, has taught undergraduate psychology students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as both a faculty member and teaching assistant. His research and scholarly articles have been published in such journals as Psychological Research and the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance. Some of McDonnell’s teaching interests lie in biopsychology, human memory, cognitive psychology, and sensation and perception.

Eric Neblock, instructor of computing, has taught courses in computer basics, video game design, and security concepts at Western Illinois University and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in computer science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Neblock’s areas of research include process aware memory compaction, peer-to-peer based package management, and web-based virtual machine management.

New Places
Below is a list of new university facilities and office relocations for the 2016-2017 academic year.
University Communications and Marketing Office
Now located in the Victorian House at 301 Stanton Street, the Office of Communications and Marketing houses staff members who oversee media relations, web communications, digital assets, graphic design, and promotions.
Student Success & Advising Center
The Student Success & Advising Center is now located at Clark Hall, Lower Level. The Center is dedicated to assisting students with disability services, academic tutoring, time management skills, and structuring class schedules.
Bearcat Den
The Bearcat Den is McKendree’s newest off-campus housing option for students of at least sophomore status. Located just ¼ mile from campus at the corner of Summerfield and Monroe Streets, the apartment style housing complex has been completely renovated to accommodate 82 students. The Den is co-ed by apartment unit and features a full kitchen and private washer and dryer in each four-bedroom apartment.
McKendree Metro Rec Plex
Opening this fall, the new McKendree Metro Rec Plex is an impressive full-service sports complex, which will serve as home to McKendree’s
hockey and aquatic teams for all practices and home games.
Located at 205 Rec Plex Drive in O’Fallon, Ill., the Rec Plex will include:
- Two NHL-sized ice rinks
- Aquatic center fit with a 10-lane championship swimming pool, as well as a second pool for recreation
- Fully-equipped fitness area
- Half-court gymnasium
- Walking track overlooking the aquatic area
- Numerous individual rooms for private parties, company retreats, and individual/group workouts
