Recognition for Associate Part-Time Faculty in Communication, Business
(LEBANON, Ill., May 11, 2021) — McKendree University recently honored two part-time
associate faculty members for their commitment to outstanding teaching and student
engagement. The 2021 awardees are Heather Schoenherr, an undergraduate communication instructor for 22 years; and Joan Winkelmann, an instructor in the MBA program for
12 years. Both took on extra teaching responsibilities during the past year during
the coronavirus pandemic.
Schoenherr, a 1996 McKendree graduate from O’Fallon, Ill., brings career experience
in human resources, training and professional communication to the classroom. She
has taught several courses including Fundamentals of Communication, Business and Professional
Presentations, and Training and Development. She developed the communication program’s
first online course in 2011 and taught the first online version of Fundamentals of
Communication course in 2020.
Winkelmann, of Belleville, Ill., has taught Business Research Methods and Applications
and the Stakeholder Management and Ethics course in the MBA program since 2008, and recently added the Global Organizations and Management course. Colleagues
complimented her steady demeanor, leadership, adaptability and willingness to teach
MBA students online and on campus when face-to-face classes resumed. She dedicates
many hours before and after classes to help her students succeed and they consistently
respond with favorable course reviews and admiration.
