McKendree and SWIC 2+2 Agreements Ease Transfer for 11 Programs
(LEBANON, Ill., March 23, 2017) — A cooperative relationship between McKendree University
and Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) ensures a seamless transfer process for students
seeking a bachelor’s degree. Articulation agreements between the institutions establish a set of SWIC courses
and credits accepted by the university.
Recently added were 11 undergraduate programs: a Bachelor of Arts in biopsychology, global studies, political science, international relations, psychology, sociology, sociology-social work, clinical and counseling psychology, gerontology, and sport psychology; a Bachelor of Business Administration in business administration and economics; and a Bachelor of Science in Education in elementary education. McKendree University and SWIC have a longstanding partnership for the RN-to-BSN nursing degree program.
The 2+2 articulation agreements guarantee a student transferring from SWIC may enter
McKendree as a junior with the required courses in place for his or her selected major.
They specify the course work to be successfully completed in two years at SWIC and
the courses to be completed at the university to earn a bachelor’s degree.
“We are delighted to offer these new 2+2 agreements to provide SWIC graduates with
a clear path for transfer to McKendree University,” said Dr. Christine Bahr, provost
and dean of the university.
McKendree University works continually with community colleges throughout the state
to develop articulation agreements and four-year transfer plans for students who complete
an Associate in Arts (AA) degree and go on to earn their bachelor’s degree at McKendree.
