McKendree University to Hold Benefit Concert for Ukraine May 18

All donations will go directly to Ukraine Relief through the United Methodist Committee on Relief


(LEBANON, Ill., May 6, 2022) – McKendree University’s Center for Faith and Spirituality, along with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), will be hosting a benefit concert called “Stand With Ukraine” at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts on Wednesday, May 18 at 6 p.m. The concert will feature a lineup of star-studded performers that people of all ages will enjoy.

Tim Ezell, host of The Thread and a reporter for Fox 2, will act as Master of Ceremony. McKendree sophomore Samantha Elling will also sing the Ukrainian national anthem. Featured artists making an appearance at this benefit concert include the following:

  • Featured congregation: The Praise Team and Anointed Handz Ministry of New Shining Light Church of Venice, Ill.

  • Christine Brewer, Grammy Award-winning American soprano and alumna of McKendree

  • Alla Voskoboynikova, professor of keyboards and native of Ukraine

  • Marie Brown, cellist and member of the Landolfi String Quartet

  • Andy Waggoner, conductor and artistic director for The Collinsville Chorale

  • Tim Price and Harvest Ministry, a non-profit mission ministry based in Troy, Ill.

  • Leon Richardson, singer/songwriter and alum of McKendree University

  • Scott Nolda, musician and alum of McKendree University


There is a minimum donation of $25 per person to attend the all-star concert. All proceeds will go directly to Ukraine Relief through the UMCOR. The event will also be livestreamed; anyone wishing to view the livestreamed concert can make a donation before viewing.
