New Rec Plex Groundbreaking

Director of Athletics Chuck Brueggemann ’88 and President Jim Dennis joined representatives of S.I. Strategies, Poettker Construction and the Southern Illinois Ice Hawks to break ground for the new McKendree Metro Rec Plex on Oct. 15, 2015. Scheduled to open this next fall, the Rec Plex will be located three miles west of campus at U.S. Hwy 50 and Scott Troy Road in O’Fallon and include two NHL-sized ice rinks, championship and recreational swimming pools, a half-court basketball court, fitness center, walking track and office space. The future home of Bearcats’ hockey and aquatic teams and the Southern Illinois Ice Hawks youth hockey association will be open to the public.
