FAQs

Is there a fee?

No. Our faculty and staff members participate on a voluntary basis as a community service. However, if you are requesting a speaker for a fee-based event, we ask that you offer an honorarium to the speaker. If the faculty or staff member is asked to travel beyond the Metro-East/Greater St. Louis area, a modest travel expense may be charged.

What if our group wants to make a donation?

Make your check payable to McKendree University and give it to the speaker at your event or mail it to:

McKendree University
701 College Rd.
Lebanon, IL 62254-1299

Note that it is for “Speakers Bureau – Faculty Development.”

How long is the presentation?

It varies but most presentations last 25 to 45 minutes. You may work directly with the speaker to determine the appropriate presentation time.

Can I schedule a speaker on the weekend or in the evening?

That is up to each individual speaker’s schedule and availability.

What audio-visual equipment do I need to provide?

Most faculty and staff members will be flexible with their presentations and will ask if any audio or visual equipment is available. Please discuss this with the speaker in advance. For very large audiences, audio equipment may be necessary. In some cases, the speaker may with to bring his or her own equipment.

What if we have a specific topic in mind and don’t see it on the list of topics available?

Please check with us; we may be able to find someone with expertise on that topic or a related one.
