Housing Rates - Fall 2024 to Spring 2025

Traditional Halls - Baker Hall, Barnett Hall, and Walton Hall

    • Double/Shared Room - $2,735 per semester - 1 dorm room, 2 students per room
    • Single/Individual Room - $3,640 per semester - 1 dorm room, 1 student per room

Suite Style Buildings

    • The Summerfield Suites Double/Shared Bedroom - $2,735 per semester - 3 bedrooms in a suite, 2 students per bedroom, 6 residents total
    • The Summerfield Suites Single/Individual Bedroom - $3,640 per semester - 3 bedrooms in a suite, the student pays to have a bedroom alone, total can be 3 to 5 depending on how many are paying for singles.
    • Residence Hall East and West Double/Shared Bedroom - $3,590 per semester - 4 students to a suite, two students share a bedroom
    • Residence Hall East and West Single/Individual Bedroom - $3,735 per semester - 4 students to a suite, each has their own bedroom

Apartments Buildings - Only Students with 30+ Credit Hours

    • Hunter Street Apartments - $3,865 per semester - 2 bedrooms with 1 student in the smaller bedroom and 2 students in the other, 3 residents total 
    • McKendree West Apartments Double/Shared Bedroom - $3,865 per semester - 2 bedrooms with 2 students per bedroom, 4 residents total 
    • McKendree West Apartments Single/Individual Bedroom - $5,140 per semester - 2 bedrooms with 1 student pays to have a bedroom alone, resulting in 2 residents total 

 

Off-Campus Housing

McKendree University strongly believes in the value of the on-campus residential experience as an important educational component for student success. As such, it is the policy of the University to require all full-time, undergraduate student to reside in University housing. Studies have shown the following regarding students living on campus while attending college:

  • They earn better grades

  • They build stronger ties to the University

  • They build more meaningful relationships with peers

  • They are generally more satisfied with their college experience

  • They are more likely to graduate

Students wishing to live off campus must submit the Application to Waive the Residency Requirement for consideration by the Housing Waiver Committee. Waiver applications and all necessary supporting documents must be turned in to the Office of Residence Life on or before July 1 for exemption from housing for the fall semester, or on or before January 1 for exemption for housing for the spring semester.
