Cybersecurity Degree
Cybersecurity students undergo a rigorous program including both theoretical and hands
on learning that equips them with the cybersecurity skills and knowledge expected
by both industry and higher education institutions. With courses focused on developing
strong technical and analytical problem solving skills, the Cybersecurity graduates
can expect to become active members of the cybersecurity community that is in great
demand today. Some of the areas in which Cybersecurity majors can expect to work
are:
-
Network Security
-
Secure Software Development
-
Information Security
-
Digital Forensics
Why a B.S. Degree in Cybersecurity?
Through a combination of rigorous theoretical and practical hands on learning, the
Cybersecurity degree will allow you to develop skills that are in high demand. Organizations,
both government and industrial, are facing increasing threats to their IT systems
and require well trained professionals who can help them operate securely. Skills
learned in the Cybersecurity program will equip you with capabilities to investigate
and assess threats, as well as plan and develop security counter-measures to keep
the IT systems safe.
About the Cybersecurity Major
Cybersecurity degree emphasizes development of analytic and problem solving skills to evaluate and summarize the fundamental cybersecurity concepts, theories and strategies. Additionally, they are prepared to recommend technical and non-technical security solutions on various cyber systems, interpret and apply cyber incident response plans, and assess risks, vulnerabilities and threats to cyber systems. They obtain the necessary theoretical background required to pursue further education and advanced degrees. With a major in Cybersecurity students should expect employment in both the industrial sector and with government agencies.
