Academic Excellence Celebration
The first annual Academic Excellence Celebration was held on the Lebanon campus on April 24, 2014. The day-long event showcased the academic accomplishments of students, faculty and staff. Over 300 participants gave scholarly research and poster presentations, read poems and essays, led heritage tours on campus, displayed art work in the McKendree Gallery of Art, performed music, dance or theatrical pieces or were inducted into academic honor societies.
Kevin Schaefer ’14 presented his senior honors thesis, entitled “Using Stereoscopic Imaging Techniques to Produce a Three- Dimensional View.”
Ashley Ebersole ’14 created a poster presentation, entitled “The Clinical Analysis of the Depressive Symptoms of Abraham Lincoln.”
Andrew Olden ’15 led a group on a historically-based heritage tour of McKendree’s campus.
A costume designed by Katelyn Kamphorst ’14 for her senior project in theatre and a poster created by Dakota Reed ’16 for his practicum project in lighting design for “Blithe Spirit” were exhibited at the Celebration of Fine and Performing Arts at the McKendree Gallery of Art.
McKendree’s newest honor society, Phi Eta Sigma, the nation’s oldest and largest multidisciplinary honor society for first-year college and university students, held
its charter initiation.
